Our historical society had a wonderful time attending the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s Great Western Steam Up over the Fourth of July weekend. We had our booth set up on exhibitor row and were fortunate enough to have the Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge Historical Society join us under the tent. Our neighbor, and partner organization, the Western Pacific Museum was also in attendance with a wonderful display booth and their model T track car.
We had a great time getting to meet so many new people and talk N-C-O. The opportunity to meet so many of our members face-to-face was a real treat as well. And of course, the chance to see so many steam locomotives operating in one place was a once-in-a-lifetime event! We may be biased, but our favorite was see Southern Pacific #18, formally N-C-O #12, operate around the balloon track over the weekend. Dave Mull and the crew with the Carson & Colorado have done incredible work restoring and operating the locomotive.
We are fortunate for the opportunity to attend events like these and the ability to meet so many of you who share an interest in preserving the legacy of the N-C-O Railway!
