Society for Industrial Archaeology Grant

Our society applied for an Eric DeLony Industrial Heritage Preservation Grant through the Society for Industrial Archaeology earlier this year. We were awarded a $1500 grant to perform wood species analysis on the N-C-O constructed 200 series boxcar, 500 series reefer, and baggage-mail express No. 22. In cooperation with Oregon State University, College of Forestry, we will be able to analyze wood samples to determine exact species of wood used in the construction of each car. A full report on findings will be published in a later issue.
